May 15, 2016 - Central California Conference officials, Hollister Seventh-day Adventist school officials,
church members and school supporters gather at 400 Isabel Lane (off of McCloskey) to participate in
the Groundbreaking Ceremony for our new school.

Several of the students are anxious to start building the new school as they put their shovels to work.

May 22, 2016 - Heavy equipment arrives to begin site preparation for our new school.

June 2, 2016 - Packing dirt for the school building pad.

School driveway is carved out.jpg
June 9, 2016 - More site preparation-driveway access is carved out.

June 14, 2016 - Dumptruck load after dumptruck load of gravel arrived today.

June 14, 2016 - As fast as the dumptrucks emptied their gravel, the grader and compacter
went to work, packing and smoothing it, preparing for the foundation.

July 5, 2016 - After lots of trenching, the foundation site is about ready for
 conduit, pipe, and cement.

July 28, 2016 - The big grout pump truck showed up this morning and cement-filled trucks
lined up two at a time to keep the grout pump busy and the workers busier. . . . .

July 28, 2016 - . . . . .smoothing the cement being pumped for the foundation slab of the
Administration and Classroom Building #1.

August 3, 2016 - The finished building slab for the Administration and Classroom Building #1
--but wait, there is more than just this one picture to show you today.
The tempo is picking up for the new school building project.

August 3, 2016 - The Classroom Building #2 foundation is trenched, conduit and water pipes
in place, just waiting to place the re-bar frames and inspected before the next pour.
But wait, there's more than one picture for this date!  Scroll on down. . .

August 3, 2016 - What's a school without a kitchen!!  The kitchen is formed, trenched,
and more conduit and water pipes are in place. Things are moving along. . .because
in a few days there will be an exciting development.
Come back next week to see what that will be!

August 10, 2016 - BIG NEWS!  A foggy morning doesn't hold back progress.  Framing
for the Administration and Classroom Building #1 has begun. The foundation for
Classroom Building #2 is also being poured this morning.  Talk about a beehive of activity!

August 10, 2016 - At the end of the day, the framing is up!  Talk about fast progress. . .

August 12, 2016 - Framing for Classroom Building #2 defines the outline of the
entire building.  By week's end, it's exciting to see that the two main buildings
are framed and ready for the next steps--electrical, plumbing, water/sewer,
communications, duct work, etc.

August 12, 2016 - Rooms in Administration and Classroom building #1 are being
enclosed. Last chance to look through a wall!  Watching the school come into existence
from architect's drawings to 3-D reality has been amazing.

August 18,  2016 - Today brought the school to a point where it is becoming more and
more recognizable.  Buildings #1 and #2 framing is now enclosed defining the rooms
within.  The work crews are anxious to build the roof to protect them from the hot sun.

August 24, 2016 - The framing crew teams up to prepare the initial part of the frame
of the roof of Building #2.

August 24, 2016 - It may look like a jumble of wood, but the rafters are laid out carefully
in a very organized way so the framers can tip them into place safely and quickly.
Believe it or not, you are looking at the beginnings of the roof!

August 25, 2016 - A foggy drizzly morning doesn't slow down progress.  With "safety first"
very evident everywhere on the building site, the rafters are expertly raised into place
making a steady march neatly across the tops of the walls of Building #2.

August 25, 2016 - By day's end, Building #2 rafters were completely in place.
The kitchen building is in the foreground ready for the foundation pouring.

September 13, 2016 - The kitchen/cafeteria steel frame was assembled within a few
hours beginning this morning. These expert steelworkers worked quickly and safely.
If you look at the picture above this one, you will see the kitchen slab/foundation
before the slab was poured and the frame installed.

September 13, 2016 - Back to the school building, the truss and rafter installation
for Building #1 is almost complete.  The pillars for the porch which will encircle
Building #1 and #2 are beginning to be built starting on the righthand
side of the building.

October 7, 2016 - The front entrance for the school connects Building #1 and Building #2
presenting a dignified welcome to current and prospective students.
The roof coverings are progressing well.

October 7, 2016 - The open-air eating area of the cafeteria building is roofed.  The
kitchen and bathrooms are awaiting the framing-in, as well as the cement slab
to be poured.

October 7, 2016 - The pillars for the wrap-around porch are in place.

October 14, 2016 - Arches are being installed at the front entrance of the school.
The aches are cut into plywood and placed symetrically between the pillars around
the entire school; they are beginning to give a finished appearance to the building.
Compare with the picture just above this one!

October 14, 2016 - This side of the school faces Isabel Lane.  The arches are placed
in groups of three around the entire school.

October 26, 2016 - When windows are installed, the building suddenly LOOKS
like a school and begins to take on a life of its own.

October 26, 2016 - The mellow autumn sunshine warms the entrance to the school
during a construction lunch break. Note those windows!

October 26, 2016 - While the outside of the school basks peacefully in the warm rays of the
sunshine, attention turns to the inside of the building and the work goes on.
Soon, warmed air will flow through the air ducts to keep the students comfortable.

October 26, 2016 - The multi-use kitchen building framing is just about
complete.  This building houses the kitchen, boys' and girls' restrooms,
electrical center for the school and the covered open-air dining area.

October 26, 2016 - Construction progresses along Isabel Lane.  The cement curbing
creates a visible boundary that will finish the road-side of the school property.

October 26, 2016 - Forms are prepared for the curbing along the circular
entrance to the school.

October 26, 2016 - Watch for a big development next week!  It's the "icing on the cake!"

November 8, 2016 - After a week's delay due to two rainstorms that brought
much-needed rain to our valley, thus muddying the delivery site for a few days,
the first truck load of the "icing on the cake" (actually school roof!) was seen
in this morning's sunlight coming down McCloskey Road.

November 8, 2016 - What a beautiful sight!  Two truckloads of roofing material wait
for the forklift that will unload them.

November 8, 2016 - The cement truck delivered its load for the curbs for the driveway
in front of the school.  There's still lots to be done. . .

November 8, 2016 - . . .as expert workmen begin the task of smoothing, packing, and
shaping the cement that outlines campus roadways.

November 15, 2016 - When the sheetrock arrives, you know the final roof covering is
not far behind.  The weather forecast is for clear weather for the next few days.
We are watching this development with great interest!

November 15, 2016 - If you have scrolled down this far to watch the growth of our
new school campus over the past few months, you will notice that the kitchen building
is progressing just as well as the main school building.  Insulation is one of the
final steps prior to the installation of the exterior roof covering

November 15, 2016 - Here's a one-picture tour of the inside of the kitchen building.
The all-weather outdoor eating area will be a great place to play in bad weather.
When the school is complete, call for a tour!

November 21, 2016 - It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like - a roof!!  The kitchen building has
the first few roofing panels installed. Notice the completed circular driveway curbing.

November 21, 2016 - The green line you see at the edge of the roof signals that the
roofing panels are not far behind.  What is the green line?  The rain gutters.

November 24, 2016 - Mission accomplished!  A wonderful Thanksgiving gift.  We thank
the Lord for His protection for all involved with our school building project so far.
The kitchen building roof is done with only a little bit of trim left to finish along the edges.
The school building roof is not far behind.  Check back for school building roof updates
which are coming soon!

November 28, 2016 - Ring Around the Rooftop!  The roofers are marching on come rain
or shine.  But the Lord is guiding. . .the recent rainstorms have yielded only very light
showers--bringing welcome moisture but allowing the workers to continue their tasks.

November 28, 2016 - While the roofing of the school buildings continue, the run-off
drains are installed along the entrance driveway as the rainy season approaches.

December 4, 2016 - Morning sunshine warms the east side of the school building
lighting up the metal doors that are now in place. In fact, all the exterior doors
and windows are now installed .

December 4, 2016 - The roofing is almost complete.  Once completed, focus will
turn to placing a stucco coat on the outside.  The inside of the building will receive
major attention--electrical, communications, sheetrock, texturing, painting--there is
still lots to be done!

December 8, 2016 - Here's a unique perspective of the school roof - one that few
people will ever see!  This looks down on the covered breezeway between the two
classroom structures. This photograph was safely taken and provided by the school's
building contractor - Thank you, Keith!

December 8, 2016 - "That's a wrap" usually indicates the end of something.  In this
case, it is just beginning.  Preparatory work for the exterior stucco work has begun.

December 13, 2016 - A milestone reached!  The air conditioning equipment is now in
place.  This photograph was safely taken and provided by school
building contractor Keith.

December 15, 2016 - Wire netting is being carefully cut to correct measure before
being placed on the exterior walls in preparation for stucco being applied.

December 15, 2016 - Stucco professionals can work under cover of the wrap-around
porch to continue making progress in stucco preparation regardless of the weather.

December 22, 2016-The preparation for the stucco coating continues down each side
of the school building.  As the exterior of the buildings is covered, it seems almost
symbolic of the Christmas wrappings that surround wonderful gifts to our loved ones.
This school represents a wonderful gift to our children as we prepare them for life.

December 22, 2016-One of the corners of the school all wrapped up!

December 23, 2016-After the electrical, plumbing and heating is installed, the
drywall contractor gets the go-ahead to start covering up the framework of the
classrooms. Drywall is fastened to the walls--and yes, the workmen will cut away
the excess drywall covering the windows. Photo courtesy of Keith the school
buildling contractor.

January 9, 2017 - It's taking less and less imagination to see the potential of each
room in the various buildings with the drywall now in place. This is looking into the
kitchen while standing in the doorway. The serving window is to the left.
Well, a little more imagination doesn't hurt.  Burritos, anyone?

January 9, 2017 - What a blessing these large classrooms will be for teachers and
students.  Now this view takes only a little more imagination to see the paint on the
walls, lights, carpet, desks, happy students and teacher.

January 9, 2017 - While this view looks very similar to the one above, this is actually
the Administration Office area.  We hope to see you soon in this room when you bring
your child to enroll as a student in the Hollister Seventh-day Adventist Christian
School.  Now that doesn't take much imagination!

January 19, 2017 - A rainbow arched over the school building this morning after many
days of rain and flooding.  How grateful we are for this gentle reminder that
God is in control.

February 6, 2017 -  While the rain storms continue to arrive one after another,
the stucco crew begins their work from the inside out--smoothing and texturing
the stucco in the breezeway of the school.

February 8, 2017 - A workman mixes stucco for the school exterior--

February 8, 2017 --and then the stucco is sprayed onto the arches.  Working quickly,
the stucco mixture is smoothed then ridged in preparation for the finishing coat.

February 8, 2017 - The fenceposts have been set and the sidewalk poured parallel
to Isabel Lane.

February 17, 2017 - Let's reverse an old maxim to say, "Now you don't see it,
now you do."  The playing field is taking shape with protective chain-link fencing
circling round the school property. A signal that all the big-truck deliveries are
winding down and soon happy shouts of students will be heard.

March 3, 2017 - The kitchen is nearing "move-in" time.  The tile is in and the
overhead commercial stove hood has been installed and is now waiting. . .

March 3, 2017 - Classroom sinks are being installed and waiting. . .

March 3, 2017 - Storage closets have empty shelves--but not for long!  Even the
bucket has the right message--but for now the closets are waiting. . .

March 3, 2017 - The Science Room's cabinets are being installed.  Boxes with
light fixtures in them are waiting. . .

March 3, 2017 - Welcome to the Hollister Seventh-day Adventist  Christian School's
Administration Office.  It, too, is waiting. . . .

for Moving Day!  Yes, we are on the
count-down for moving in to our new
school.  Rapid developments are happening
as all through the campus all areas are being
completed prior to moving in.

March 15, 2017 - The electrical room equipment is in place providing the power
for the campus.  You might call this area the heartbeat of the school.

March 15, 2017 - Let there be light!  The classrooms, offices, and storage areas
are having the lights installed.

March 22, 2017 - And There Was Light!  The Science classroom lights were
powered on today.

March 22, 2017 - Meanwhile, on the outside the final stucco coat is being put on.
Soon the scaffolding will be taken down in preparation for the color coat.

March 28, 2017 - It's not my fault, it's not your fault, it's asphalt!! The circle
driveway is being done today.

March 28, 2017 - Particular care is given to even the bits of asphalt that are raked
into position just prior to being rolled flat.

March 28, 2017 - The cement porch and paint are partially complete.  Don't the palm
trees visible through the arches add to the vision of the School Building Committee's
plan for the school?

March 28, 2017 - Taping protective plastic over windows and doors for exterior painting
has begun.

March 28, 2017 - This view sure looks different from the one dated November 21, 2016!

April 11, 2017 - You are seeing "The Noble Walk" for the first time. If you don't know
what that is, look at the next picture below.  But first, notice a small dark
rectangle in the middle of the photograph above.

April 11, 2017 - "The Noble Walk" consists of a series of character trait words placed
around the perimeter of our school that will remind our children of the kind of adults
we want them to become. Other words are "Sincerity", "Courage", "Excellence",
including the one above, "Compassion". There are several more.
This is the "bug's eye" view!

SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2017
1-3 PM

April 25, 2017 - WE'RE MOVING!  Good-bye 2020 Santa Ana - Hello 400 Isabel Lane!
After 60 years at 2020 Santa Ana, it's time to pack up and move.  God is so good!
But there's a lot of work to be done.  Help is on the way . . . .

April 25, 2017 - Monterey Bay Academy students helped Hollister school staff and
friends today.  The students above are packing up the library books to be taken
to the new school.  There's a LOT of boxes!

April 25, 2017 - The school chapel is being set up.  These chairs are another miracle!
Ask a staff member how much these chairs cost.  Thanks to Chelsea's and Lissette's
hard work, the chapel will soon be ready.

April 25, 2017 - Meanwhile, work on the exterior parts of the campus continues.
The cement play slab has been partially poured.  The rest of the slab will be poured
shortly.  What a blessing for our children--local citizens know that Hollister dirt
becomes sticky mud after a rainy day!

April 24-28, 2017 - MOVE-IN WEEK!  If workmen and staff
were busy before, they went into "hyper-drive" during
this week.  Some of the highlights are chronicled below--

April 26, 2017 - The last section of the cement play slab is prepared.  The workmen
seem like a symphony in motion as they lay out the rebar with precision and speed.

April 28, 2017 - Welders put the finishing touches on the gate at the arcade entrance.

April 28, 2017 - Lissette helps make the weeds disappear and is planting
 landscaping plants in their place.

April 28, 2017 - Chelsea is unpacking, sorting and organizing so quickly,
her hands are a blur.

April 28, 2017 - Susan and Greg fine-tune the electronic equipment in the office.

April 30, 2017 - Elder Ramiro Cano, President of the Central California Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists, our school's parent organization, reminds us of the blessing
this school will be to many future school children.

April 30, 2017 - Hollister Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Vernon Herholdt reminds us that our
new school campus is our "Ebenezer"--a memorial to God in remembrance of how He has
done so much for our church and community in giving us this school.

Principal Barbara Thompson, assisted by Central California Conference President
Elder Ramiro Cano and Central California Conference Education Vice President
Ken Bullington, cuts the HUGE red ribbon with HUGE scissors.
 The school campus has
been completed two weeks from a year
of the original ground-breaking ceremony.
(see the first photograph at the top of this page).
